Mike Justice made a suggestion at the re-union in 2006 that we reintroduce the “Queens Cup”
for the day and award it to the House that attended the most on the day.
The winners this year were Aberdeen and Somerset with a drawer.

The Goldings Boys graves at Waterford.
The service at St Michael & All Angels Church Waterford was at 11-30 Saturday
the 1st of October It was an opportunity to remember the Boys who are buried
there, and who never got the opportunity to pursue their training taught to them at
Goldings, but remain forever overlooking the grounds that they enjoyed in their
maturing years but sadly forgotten.

Goldings Award Winners 2014

Over 100 Old Boys, Staff and their Families attended the Memorial Service to the Goldings Boys who
are buried at Waterford. Every seat was taken with Old Boys standing at the back and outside the Church
to listen to the very moving service from Reverend Fairbank, and then David Wheatley also a very
poignant but with a little humour added his Eulogy.
Two of the headstones was removed and then replaced by the one pictured right. Fred Barnes and Jean Clark above right helped make this day possible.
Below are photographs of Jean and Fred receiving their Awards

2013 Cup photos

At the 2013 Aftercare approached me to tell me when they was clearing a office they came across a card system used
by Barnardo’s which indexed boys who were in Barnardo’s and later went to Goldings. The cards appear to have the persons
Barnardo’s number and their number at Goldings along with personal details as viewed by Barnardo’s. If your name appears on
this list or perhaps a former Barnardo friend for them to contact Aftercare, contact Martine King on Tel No 0208 4987553.
I have already returned at the re-union, cards belonging to Gordon Rath, John Burr, John Mercury, and Bob Bone (Jordan)

Goldings Old Boys Reunion 6th October 2018

Email recieved from David Willacy May 2017
Hi David, Hope all is well.
The new holders of the Goldings Cup is Aldenham School.
They are blessed with ‘football scholars’ so it is a bone of contention that will no doubt be chewed at our AGM on Monday next.
Best wishes David Willacy

Congratulations Jean

You’re Made it.

An achievement to be proud of

Jean quest never ends and is still collecting funds while she decides on her next graves project. As Barnardos seem to be
un forthcoming with any ideas of where Jeans next project will be she is hoping somewhere there will be an old
Barnardo Boy or Girl, who may come up with suggestions.
So if there is someone who knows of the whereabouts of a Barnardo child’s, or children’s grave, as the boys and girls
where very often buried in large numbers together, and it appears to have been forgotten please contact the site and
maybe Jean can take it from there.

October 2016
As Pop and David Wheatley reminded me, that next year it will be 50 years since Goldings closed so I think we
should make this one special with possibly a service in Waterford Church and repeating the Service that was
held in that July 1967 in the Gym as I have a copy of the original. Also Sele Farm manager has suggested that
we get the Hall free, that would be Saturday 7th October 2017, we shall see about if that is possible as I deal
with it. If it is possible we are also looking at making the re-union free for the Old Boys and families that year,
but let me work on the service first and perhaps the other idea's happen with a special visit on the day at Goldings.
Other ideas I welcome Dave.

MANY THANKS

I would like to take the opportunity to thank James Perrier for Allied Bakeries Stevenage
for sponsoring our Reunion each year.
Allied have supplied the bread and rolls each year since I have been involved with the Reunion.

October 2017

The Goldings Cup will continue in the Hertford Schools F.A. Sadly it seem to have been decided that there will
no longer be an opportunity for anyone to watch the games as it will all be done internally by the schools

Many thanks to one and all for the praise for this years re-union,but don't forget others were involved to make it a wonderful
re-union. Ellen and James Perrier (who don't need to help as Brian passed away two years ago) but insist in Brian’s memory to
help out. The Jolly Sailor from Kent, our very own Peter Drummond, Jean and Dave Clark who won't to be involved. But the
most important ingredient is you! the Old Boys and their families that make it such a success. My thanks go out to David and
Carolyn whom I'm sure his father would be very proud he's once more around us which is his rightful place, and Mike Justice
for his able speech on the day. I do enjoy doing it! see you all next year on the 6th of October!

LETTER’S OF THANKS
