Species rich limestone grassland and woodland overlooking the Clwydian Range, excellent for a wide range of butterflies.
The reserve lies on 8.7 hectares of limestone outcrop. It had been left for many years until it became a nature reserve in 1992. The Trust leases the site from Pioneer who operate the adjacent Quarry. pioneer has entered into an agreement with the Local Authority, which requires that the site is managed for nature conservation.
The reserve is 3 miles SW of Mold, just N of Maeshafn. From the village green, take either the public footpath past the chapel to the W or the one heading N. Both lead on to the Eastern part of the reserve.
