A fine example of Ancient Woodland, with a rich flora of mosses, liverworts and ferns, the Coed Crafnant Reserve is comprised of two distinct woodlands; Coed Crafnant and Coed Dolbebin.

Together they form part of the extensive Rhinog Site of Special Scientific Interest within the National Park. The reserve, 49 hectares in size, is important for its variety of primitive plants such as mosses and liverworts; these rely on a warm, moist atmosphere to survive. The native oak tree canopy has provided this environment for some 6,000 years. The woods are also home to many different insects, birds and mammals.

From the A496 Harlech to Barmouth road, turn off in Llanbedr village at the Vic pub, towards Cwm Bychan. Continue uphill for about 2.75 km until you reach Pen-y-Bont (SH607280).
For the Dolbebin (southern) entrance Turn sharp right over the bridge and through the gate. Follow the rough track for about 0.5 km and turn right to Y Fron. Continue uphill through a further gate, bear left and continue for about 200m. There is parking for two cars in the small layby on the left, immediately before the small reserve gate.
For the Pont Crafnant (northern) entrance Continue past Pen-y-Bont for a further 1.5km towards Cwm Bychan. There is parking for 2 cars on the roadside at SH617290, overlooking Pont Crafnant. By foot, enter the gate on the road, cross the bridge over the Artro and walk past the old barn on the right. Cross over the stile and carry on along the track, bearing right. The small reserve gate is ahead.
