Eithinog is a 10 hectare wildlife haven on the edge of the small city of Bangor, overlooking the Menai Straits & the Menai Suspension Bridge.
The nature reserve comprises of mainly unimproved grassland with mature hedgerows, gorse scrub, copses, rush meadows, willow and alder carr. The fields are rich in flora and fauna and are noted for a nationally important grassland fungi assemblage. There are also wintering snipe, breeding bullfinches and foraging bats, over 20 species of butterflies and a diverse invertebrate population, along with plants such as lady’s-mantle, several species of orchid and the uncommon parasitic greater broomrape.
