Gors Maen Llwyd, a heather moorland, is home to a range of upland birds with areas of peat bog, which are rich in plant and insect life.

It is the largest of the Trust's reserves at 280 hectares. Purchased in 1988, this heather moorland and blanket bog habitat is part of the Mynydd Hiraethog SSSI.

The reserve is situated 7 miles SW of Denbigh on the B4501. It lies at the Northern end of Llyn Brenig. From Denbigh, take the A543 Pentrefoelas road. After 7 miles, turn left on the road signposted to Llyn Brenig. After 1 mile, turn left again, the road runs through the resertve. Park at the top car park (SH 970 580) or near the bird hide (SH 983 5754). The nearest bus stop is Nantglyn (3 miles from the reserve). Catch the No.61 from Lenton Pool, Denbigh.
