The current situation is that the quarry extension now has all the required consents in place and preliminary work has started.
Planning permission for an extension to the existing quarry at Rhuddlan Bach was granted in February 2006 by the Isle of Anglesey Council.
It was not until the summer of 2006 that a comprehensive and detailed series of conditions to be associated with this permission was agreed by the statutory bodies involved. This was then presented to the developer.
Alongside the quarry there are also plans to eventually use the proposed extension as a landfill site for inert waste. The existing quarry void is used for this purpose. This required consent/permission from the Environment Agency. Following detailed and complex discussions this consent was finally granted in Autumn 2007.
The Wildlife Trust will be liaising with the Countryside Council, the Environment Agency and other agencies to ensure full compliance with the rigorous monitoring programme.
