FIFTY YEARS AGO - 1956 JOHNNIE RAY WENT TO NUMBER ONE IN NOVEMBER WITH HIS SINGLE "JUST WALKING IN THE RAIN" WHERE IT SPENT SEVEN WEEKS IN THE TOP SPOT. JOHNNIE HAD TEN SINGLES IN THE TOP TEN AND THREE WENT TO NUMBER ONE IN THE USA. THIS SINGLE WAS HIS BEST SELLING UK HIT AND HIS TRADEMARK WAS TO USUALLY CRY ON STAGE AS HE PERFORMED CERTAIN SONGS.

Entering Heaven The Goldings Way
Many many years ago one Christmas Eve three Goldings boys passed away one was in Cairns one was in Aberdeen and one was in Somerset on their way to the pearly gates they were met by St Peter “Due to this holy season” St Peter says you must each possess something you can associate with Christmas before I can loose you into Heaven
The Cairns Boy fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle," he said. "You may pass through the pearly gates," Saint Peter said. The Aberdeen Boy reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells." Saint Peter said, "You may pass through the pearly gates." The Somerset Boy started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's glasses. St. Peter looked at the boy with a raised eyebrow and asked, "And just what do those symbolize?" The boy replied, "They're Carol's."
