Well said Bob (Robertson)It has been my burning ambition to highlight from my experience the tremendous change that Golding's made in my life and I'm sure but not possibly all would echo my thoughts and the tremendous work by the Staff on our behalf, and the friendship I shared with other boys at the School. To name a few Staff that I would never forget,Pop Steele,Bob Newton,Mr Broster my mentor in Carpentry,Skipper,my Housemaster,Wray Nunn who got me the cane for smoking...rightly so! and many other Staff equally as good and dedicated to the ones I've already mentioned,Mr Wheatley,Pinhead! to the boys, what a leader on behalf of the School that we didn't seem to appreciate at the time, who's life was probably shortened by such a workload. So I will continue to express my thanks along with others that we were very lucky,on this site and through other avenues at my disposal.I do realize that many of the Old Boys may not even be on computer and are not aware of the site,so it is my job to make them aware at our next re-union.The School has long since gone, and the youngest ones to leave will be going on 68 years old now but that shouldn't stop us via our children and grandchildren to continue this wonderful story for most of us that were pupils of the William Baker TECHNICAL! School, Golding's.The reason I highlight Technical, is that towards the end of the life of the School,1965 the teaching Staff were told that they were not qualified enough so they must drop the Technical name from the School...what a joke.
We have put together a compilation of stories about Golding's please feel free to add any of yours including Staff as I hope to have it published at a later date, many thanks to you all Dave and Family.
