Volunteers
The management and day-to-day running
of Cemlyn, like that of all NWWT reserves is dependant not
only on Trust staff, but on the help of those willing to give
their time, and often expertise, for free.
Volunteers are involved in a variety of
practical tasks around the reserve, e.g. managing the water
level of the lagoon by the use of stop logs, collecting tern
nesting boxes at the end of each season and occasional habitat
management work.
They also provide extra help for the two summer wardens employed
at the reserve from April to August. Manning the tern-viewing
area, which usually involves keeping an eye on the colonies
and responding to enquiries from the public, allows the wardens
to undertake other tasks or take valuable time-off.
