  Lads,  Surely you remember the Bamboo Pole. It was about 12 foot long and should have been taken to the pool every swimming session. It was meant to fish out any boy in difficulties. However, the pool always became a thick pea green liquid very quickly so I suppose it was like the Dead Sea - no one could sink in it. All the years I was at Goldings I never even dipped one toe into the pool, I expect that is one reason I have reached 75 years.    Pop
