AN INTERESTING THOUGHT CONCERNING "GOLDINGS" AS WE ALL WERE AWARE THE SCHOOL WAS VERY MUCH "SPORT" INCLINED IN A BIG WAY, I PROPOSE TO CONTACT THE RELEVENT BODIES CONCERNED ie. FOOTBALL, CRICKET, AND ANY OTHER SPORT WE FEEL WILL REMIND LOCAL PEOPLE AND CHILDREN ESPECIALY THAT THERE ONCE WAS A SCHOOL IN HERTFORD WHICH WE OCCUPIED CALLED "WILLIAM BAKER TECHNICAL SCHOOL" THE CUP OR SHIELD I FEEL SHOULD BE PRESENTED TO YOUNG CHILDREN OF A SIMILAR AGE TO WHEN WE WERE AT GOLDINGS ie. WINNERS OF THE LEAGUE, OR SIMILAR I AM OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, AND PERHAPS A LOCAL OLD BOY COULD PRESENT IT ON OUR BEHALF. THE NEXT PROJECT IS TO APPROACH WIMBELDON, REGARDING SOME FORM OF PLAQUE OR BENCH TO REMIND THE PRESENT DAY PUBLIC AND PLAYERS,THAT "GOLDINGS" LADS ONCE OCCUPIED THIER HALLOWED COURTS,AND WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN MAKING IT THE SUCCES IT IS TODAY...WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THESE PROPOSALS..DAVE

Hi Dave, Re your message 19th Sept. 2006. Bill Roe Was right. I remember some of the song and it went like this:- At Six in the Morning we hear the church bell, along came Skip Culver to open our cell, He opened the window and emptied the poe, back to the work shops we dickie boys must go. 1 2 3 4 and we're all in a line, our pick & our shovels are all marking time, we're working like convicts so back to our cell, there's no place in Hertford like Goldings hotel.
Another song goes like this;- There is a mouldy dump not far away, where we get bread and cheese 3 times a day, eggs and bacon we don't see, we get sawdust in our tea, and we are gradually, fading away....fading awa....fading away.
I often hum and sing both to myself and remember the tunes but not the titles. Yes, we did sing stupid songs like these.
