Malcolm Re: All Souls' Service
|
Hallo David, Botsford's had a wing-nut so I fitted the fourth screw, I hope your re-union was all you hoped. The All Souls Service is Sunday 1st Nov at 6.30 p.m.
On a couple of our monthly working parties, we sorted out the vestry and found some old photos and documents; we are hoping to start work on creating an archive that will be available for public use. If you or any of your members have anything relevant to the church, we would welcome any submissions. I will let you know about the tree. Best wishes, Malcolm

Hi Dave, How did the evening shindig go, was the whole day a success? When I arrived back home which was only a couple of hours ago, there was an E-Mail on my laptop from Ray Hillier who lives in Thailand, I think I have mentioned him to you. He knew I was going to the reunion and wanted me to pass on his good wishes to all and sundry. He particularly mentioned Winney Norton and Jimmy Street and asked me to give them his E-mail address because he would really like to get in touch with them. Now I know we have a procedure about E-Mails and don't dish them out willy nilly but I love to help reuniting Goldings boys. I have Ray's E-Mail address to pass on but which is the best way to sort out Ray's request. Can I have Wins and Jimmys E-Mail address so I can send them Ray Hilliers address or what?

Another lovely Reunion of our Special Family - the spirit and belongingness is still as strong as ever. I would particularly like to thank you all for presenting me with the handsome inscribed clock which is now sitting on my study table. I felt quite humbled to be treated in this way. When Mike Justice said that by growing up at Goldings, I had been introduced to the "University of Life" before moving on to the University of Cambridge, he was quite right! There are so many happy memories of an unusual childhood.

I shall be in Hertford Thursday afternoon, so if anyone wants me I can be contacted on my mobile 07570745965. Helen Perrier (Brian's wife) will be bringing a memory book with her so anyone who remembers Brian and recollections of him she would dearly love them to put them in her book as a keepsake, so lets help her out!! many thanks.

Dave, I was looking at pics on the site and came across Waterford Verney pics, which reminded me that myself and a boy called Manic May were the two boys to be chosen to start the place off, along with a Lady called Mrs Bates and her son young master Bates!! We had to clean the place up from top to bottom.I seem to recall Celia Wheatley moved in the top room at sometime. I think Senior boys later used it as recreation Joint, cos we had a telly which worked more often than not after a couple of clouts. It must have been late autumn cos in November there was a big bonfire built on the green in front of it by the villager's. Then one night someone set it alight before bonfire night and Manic and I got the blame cos we were Golding's Boys.On reflection I think someone from the Village did not agree with us lot being there. Yet another tale from the past
