Due to the inefficiency of the supplier to our site, it has been down for three days, after numerous promises of information via e-mail with technical help for them to restore it, no such help arrived.Using a very old fashioned mode of comminication, it has now been solved, three cheers for the telephone!! Our complaint is being made to the company.....by post!

Hello Anne, thanks for visiting the site. You mention 1967 about the Verney, I think that was the time Mr Tordoff a Boot and Shoe master ran it.You are very welcome to our re-union and possibly you may meet up with some of the old Print boys that were there, assuming Barnardo's still owned it in that period that you were there.I am led to beleive that the Verney became a Old Folks Home after Barnardo's. It is now a private residence and has had extensive alterations to it. Mr and Mrs Newton (Teacher and P.T.I.) ran it when I was at Goldings (1962-65) and I was sent down there to help clean, as I was a Junior, and for my dinner was served up Gammon with Pineapple!! I thought it was a joke by the older Printers as I had never had that meal ever before, but it now become one of my favourites! Send us some more information of your time there if possible, in the meantime I will try to find out Printers from that time if they were still there when you was there, keep in touch,Dave.
