A funny true story about Mr. Embleton. Michael Corbett (aged 5) asked my father why he hadn't got much hair. My father replied "You can't have hair and brains". Next day Michael spies Mr. Embleton, who had strong black hair, looks up at him and says "Mr Wheatley says you can't have hair and brains".
Mr. Embleton, who was a charming and very fair minded man, also had a droll sense of humour. As a teenager, he drove the car when we went to play golf at the East Herts course near Ware. Should we happen to pass a bridal car, he would quietly observe that another young man had gone west! In true life, he and Mrs Embleton were a lovely and devoted couple. Her early demise hit him extremely hard.

Me and Joan (Embleton) have been in contact with each other with the view to put Mr Embleton and his Family story of their time before Goldings and afterwards and an insight of their time spent at Goldings.Their experience should rank along with Mr Wheatley,s as their input along with many Staff should be remembered by us,probably at the time not appreciating them but as we have got older we now see a clearer picture. Some very interesting information she has gave me which will shortly be added to the site.Any Old Boys,Pop,and David, feel free to add other stories concerning the Embletons, which I can add.As honours were recently given out by the Queen how come these good people never got a sniff?
