The article about Jim Maslin has brought back many happy memories of a kindly man who was totally devoted to the well being of all members of the Goldings family. A Barnardo boy himself, Jim encapsulated and supported all the positives of daily life both for staff and boys. He demonstrated great loyalty to my father and was a warm and supportive uncle to me throughout my formative years. We were all very saddened when he died suddenly from a heart attack in his early sixties. You do not meet his ilk very often in today's world.
