Hello Dave,
Thank you for your warm welcome to the Guest Book, I hope to be on parade again soon. I am most impressed with the site. I have enjoyed exploring it, and look forward to exploring it some more. But I wish I could remember more about Goldings. I think I might be wrong on this one, did we used to make crystal sets, so that we could listen to the radio. You needed a component called the cats whisker and a set of head phones with other parts. How we obtained them I dont know. Maybe you could reserch this and find out if we had crystal sets at Goldings, or maybe some of the lads would know. I thought I would mention it for a bit of interest. Do you sell the Goldings lapel badge or ties. I think the first house I was in at Goldings, was Pelham. It was great talking to you the other day on the phone. Thanks for now all the best, with regards. Richard.

Just been speaking to Neville Fletcher from Macandrew 1960-64 about the old days at Goldings, and these stories he asked me to share with others.
When Princess Margaret visited Goldings to open Macandrew Wing special cakes were ordered from Hertford for the occasion as I don't think "Old Jacks" baking was quite up to Royal Standards, and as she went round Macandrew she bent down to one of my friends and whispered "I should eat as many cakes as you can because I'm led to beleive after I,ve left they are being sent back to the shop!" At this all the boys started stuffing cakes in their coat pockets!
At the time I was in sick bay because my mother won an L.P. Chubby Checker with the "Twist" on,and we had a competion in the Gym to see who could be the best "Twister" and I won it but was rushed up to sick bay with torn ligaments!
Who can recall wheeling out the fire hose's for inspection, stretching them down the spiral staicase, and along the Hallway with others, and about 4-5 senior boys bringing out the fire cart from the doors at the bottom of the tower by the dining room with a generator, and water tank on the cart with Skipper and Nobby Clarke in charge as we pulled it towards the lawn by Mr Wheatley's study,Nobby Clarke starting it up and to test it we trained it on the lawn, but sometimes we sprayed Pinheads windows! "Sorry Sir,it was to powerful" Happy Days.
