A very nice letter dropped through my letter box this morning from a Mr Reginald Charles Tyrell (formerly Davis)who was at Goldings 1939-41 and one of the boys that died at Goldings was his best friend who died in sick bay 1940.He would dearly like to pay his last respect at Waterford, but being nearly 90 he doesn't drive and hoped he could get a lift,he lives in March,Cambridgeshire, but has since told me he's hoping his daughter will bring him, lets hope so!He was a Bootmaker, and in Cairns House. He remembers Joe Patch and his Alsatian, and he said and I quote "He never peddled that bike the dog pulled him everywere" Remembers ths swimming pool hadn't long opened. He arrived the day that Mr Battel got killed by a bomb outside the clock tower by the Print Shop.He enjoyed the stirring march's to Chapel on Sundays, and Macdonald the Governor gave the sermon's.Was their when they built the air raid shelters by sick bay and the unexploded bomb up top field, they was all cleared from the area, and Mr Purkis had to Guard it until the bomb squad arrived.Very Interesting young man.

Keith.
I have passed a message onto Jean clark asking her to contact you. I agree with you. Sister Halfhide was a special person and it came over loud and clear talking to those at the funeral and she certainly will be missed by those who knew her.

John Sansom I too remember Alan Ives he was in Aberdeen House when I was there and a great friend, when I left goldings in february 1945 for a job in Ware I lodged in Cundells road and Alan would come to stay with his foster mother at week-ends just a few doors up the road from me it will be great to see him again at the reunion, I hope he remembers me the last time I saw him would be December 1945 when I left Ware to return to my beloved MANCHESTER.
by the way I am a true blue City fan and at last they are going places this season. see you at the reunion John as usual.
