Another interesting letter today from a Mr D.V. Norman at Goldings fom 1939 for two and a half years, who was on the Parade Ground day War was declared, another one of the many old boys who's stories fascinate me.Mentions Mr Whitbread who in them days was in charge of issuing the boots,Mr Barnes who was in charge of cleaning, used to call him "Brushie Barnes",School Captain Mercer,Superintenant Mr Whitehouse ex Navy who was in charge of football. One day they were playing the Police at football and it got quite heated and rough,so during the game he said "If they want it rough, let us give to them!" Joe Patch used to arrive every day on his bike with his dog.Plugge Bishop was one of the Woodwork masters.Mr Channon sportsmaster,Mr Battel the bandmaster,Danny and his wife were Chef, both Irish, the insight to Goldings expands weekly, many thanks young man, Dave

Hi John Thanks for the mail, as Allan Ives was a printer he would have done his seven years, so when I knew him he followed the previous School Captain into that position, and made a very good job of it, Ive just remembered his name!, one of the Ward twins held that position before Allan. Good luck to Man City, if they play as good as they played against my team (Spurs) they will be okay. Best wishes John, see you at the reunion. John
