Hi Pop and Dave, I'm sure I remember Sister Dot Halfhide during my stay at goldings from 1955-59 but do not recall having any direct dealings with her as I spent little time in the sick bay, but the name does ring a bell with me.
Please pass my sincere sympathy to her family.
In the mean time, if the family would like a Goldings representative at the funeral, I would be more than happy to attend, as Loughborough is only 25/30 minutes drive away for me.

HI Dave dont know when the picture of the boys lining up for pocket money they all looked smart. During the days in 1944 to1948 when I left Goldings pay day was on Friday also Pin Head & Mr Maslin used to sit on top outside the Dining Room looking down on us ,each Trade would take it in turns to get Pocket money first .The New Ablutions Block if I remember was built between 1945 -1947 but it is a great picture, good for the memory.

Pop or Dave if you are in contact with Sister Dot Halfhide family? I am sure on behalf of so many boys please pass on our sincere condolences and thanks for the life of such a wonderful lady, who cared so much for so many of us boys. Thank you Pop putting me in contact Sister Dot,I made contact with her twice since. Although very frail she was able to converse and reminisce with me, it was great. If you could get me a contact I would love to write to her family. Many Thanks.

Dave, I can remember a photo session
by British Oxygen when they came and taught me to weld using oxygen and acetylene, also to use a brass and zinc alloy rod to brase joints instead of an overlap using rivets. You have one of the photo`s taken that day, not able to recall the video, would very much like to view said video.
After I left the school I also learnt the electric welding at Chaseside Eng.
Still pretty good at it? ?.
