In them days he could get through the window! now we have to open both doors at the reunion so he can get in!

Dave, the doors and windows were changed when Drummond kept trying to break in, looking for sausages,he could not get over Bobby getting 2.He got in once but all he found was a plate of cold pongy and a cockroach, and never went back. But by then the doors and windows had already been ordered. That's a true story,
Twisty told me.

Hi everyone, hope you have all recovered from the October reunion. On Tuesday this week I attended a Barnardo event at Blenheim Palace and had the Honor of speaking about my life and Barnardo experiences. In the audience of 120 was a former Goldings old boy and his wife Liz, who made themselves known to me at the end of the event. We had a nice long chat and he recalled some of his Goldings memories. His name is Norman Maconochie who left Goldings around 1954 which was the year before I went to the big house. Norman has never attended a Goldings reunion and had hoped to do so this year but due to illness, was unable to do so. Any one remember Norman ? I have his contact details but will not put them on the site without first getting his OK. I have given him the details of the Goldings site and I hope that he may submit some contributions soon.

A letter sent to Aftercare Barnardos
Barnardos Aftercare, enclosed is the outcome of my meeting with the Vicar of Waterford. He has agreed in principal to my request subject to minor conditions he would like us to meet. That the Memorial is of a slate colour to merge into the existing headstones, and not to be any taller than the original headstone, which he agrees can be placed were one of the headstone’s now stands. I shall approach the residents of Goldings with a view to placing the one removed lying flat in the grounds of Goldings subject to their agreement, as the installer I have spoken to say they will just dispose of it. Also his request is for it to face the Church, so visitor do not walk on other graves, and to have it with a flower container built within the memorial so people don’t just place vases loose by it. I have taken up your idea that you showed me at Barkingside, which I think is fine, but obviously downsized version. I have Included the quote I got locally, but this is subject to Aftercare along with yourself agreeing, as you may have a much more competitive stonemason that Barnardo’s use.
I was hoping that Barnardo’s fund the project and any donations sent towards it could be deducted from your cost, and I think the Guild Messenger is the ideal place for anyone to offer donations towards it. When we have completed the formalities I would hope that it is unveiled on our next reunion day coupled with a service in the church of Waterford, with a small booklet to accompany it.
Many thanks as always for you’re wonderful support that you and Aftercare give us.

Your contact with the Church
The Vicar

I will be sending similar details in a letter to the Vicar, look forward to further developments.
