Dear Dave, It is with great sadness that I am writing to you but my father passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday the 8th of November at 3.23am. He passed away due to complications to do with Parkinson's disease which dad had. He was still in Barnet general hospital where he had been since 10th of September.

I have been up to Goldings today to have a walk around and I managed to see the carving on the door which dad always spoke of, "None come to early None return to late" Although my memory may have got this wrong but I thought there was also an inscription over the door too but I could not find this. Can I thank you for the Goldings cup you gave to my father at the reunion which he attended, he treasured this very much and so will I. Thanks for the information about connections, they have told me that dad was in Goldings between May 1942 to June 1943 and I know he studied engineering. Although they could not tell me anything else due to data protection and I will have to do this through the connection website now dad has passed. Regards Andrew Orella

Hi Dave, I've spent the afternoon scrolling through several thousands of messages on the GOB - great memories. I came to Goldings 12/01/63 and was in Pelham House when Eddie Budd was HC, succeeded by David Langler - it was good to see a message from him, not a bad goalkeeper, he must be happy now Burnley are back in the EPL! I was in the printing department (Comp) with the likes of David Fall, Keith MacSweeney, Chris Berry, John Foote. A few years ago I was still in touch with Glynn Parry and Jimmy James (very sad to hear of his passing), and also Bob Robertson. Now that I have found the GOB I will look forward to continuing the reading. Hats off to you for the tremendous work you are doing with the website, and yes, I remember you as a chippy, and a very keen footballer!

Malcolm, it's Dave from Golding's. We have put your request about watch repairing on our Guest Book. I was also wondering if you could help me out, next year it has been 50 years since Golding's closed so I am trying to make it a bit special,do you think the Vicar would do us a special service at next years reunion which is on Saturday 7th October 2017. If you could help me get in touch to try to arrange it, also do you know of a Cadet Marching Band that would help us on the day. Regards Dave, the Tree Surgeon!!
Hallo David,
Our rector, Jenny will be delighted to conduct a service. I think the best way to start is for you to contact Jenny by e-mail, she is always very helpful and full of ideas to make such services special.
Please don't worry if you don't have quick responses, we are now a benefice of five parishes and, although there is a ministry team, the vast majority of the work falls on the rector so it may be a week or so before you have a reply.
If you copy e-mails to me, I can keep abreast of developments without Jenny having to update me or pass on any chores that arise.
I don't know of a marching band but will make enquiries and let you know.
Thank you for passing on the info. about the course.
By strange coincidence, I was thinking of the tree surgeon yesterday as I drove out of Goldings Lane, all the leaves are off the chestnuts and I thought that the tree officer can now see what the tree surgeon did and hoped that he hadn't left any split branches on view.
Best wishes,
Malcolm
