Hi Dave would it be ok to meet you and Mal at the hall a week on Friday as I have never been to this hotel and I'm worried in case I get lost can I leave my car at the hall grounds and come back with you both. If that is ok with you what time to meet you. I asked Peter but got no reply. Love Bluenose xxx

Hi Dave, I am Colin Bishop, Graham Bishop’s brother who Terry Whitehead is trying to get in touch with. I was at Goldings from 59-63 with my brother My email address is colin.maz@ntlworld.com He is now 74 years of age…alive and still kicking…..! My best friend during my time at Goldings was Jimmy Kennedy, who I have now been re-united with, by chance, at the 150th Anniversary Celebration at Buckingham Palace, after 54 years. It must have been fate or a miracle. Cheers Colin

Dear Dave,
My father was one of the Goldings boys back around the Second World War. He was one of the Basque children from the Spanish civil war and he was sent to Goldings for being a good boy. My father is not very well these days as he is 90 years old and time is catching him up very quickly. I would like to find any information on my father like the dates he was there and the writing above the door about no boy leave or something. I know it was about 3 years that my father was there. My father details are;
José Ma Orella 26/06/1926
He studied engineering and I believe he was the captain of the football team for a bit. I remember visiting he school when it was council offices and dad name was on the wall in the hallway. I took dad to one reunion and the was another old boy from his time I believe his name was John but can't remember anything else.
Regards Andrew Orella

Hi David, I appreciate your trouble to contact and can’t thank you enough, this is completely invaluable information and it will mean so very, very much to Colin. It is a real heartbreaker to know that Colin will not be fit enough to attend the reunion in October, it would have meant so very much to him. I will not tell him of the event as he would be so disappointed not to be there, but hopefully he will have recovered sufficiently to attend if there is another sometime in the future. It’s strange, I have done so much research recently on Dr. Barnardos with no joy at all, but a couple of mornings ago I was semi awake and the word ‘Goldings’ just popped into my head – don’t know where that came from, I went down to the computer and searched for Dr Barnardos Goldings and here we are! I will call you tomorrow as you suggest. Kind regards Kevin
