Hello Reg, David and I were only talking about you at Brian's funeral on Thursday. As I missed the last Golding's reunion!! it was the first time we had met since my return from a wonderful stay with you and Donna in Canada.
We all owe so much to David's Father and I know he pointed me in the right direction when I left Golding's in 1959

I was so sorry to miss Brian's Party at the end of January but pleased I was able to make it to pay my final respects at his funeral on Thursday. What a great turn out for this wonderful man and Fellow Goldings brother. Barnardo's was represented by Martine King and David Wheatley made a wonderful speech about Brian's life. I was not at Golding's during Brian's time but have had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him for a number of years via the reunions, attending Golding's cup finals and the occasional telephone chat.
Brian's final resting place at Weston Road Cemetery, Stevenage has a wonderful view overlooking rolling fields with Stevenage in the distance.
It has been a mixed week for me. On Wednesday I was in Mansfield attending another funeral, That of my Brother-in-law. Later today I am giving another of my Barnardo presentations, Ironically, to the Melton Mowbray Widows group.
RIP Brian

Hi all, just to let you know there was a great turnout at Brians funeral yesterday, I counted 108 friends and family there to send him off. What a popular and very much loved man. He wasn't just a giant of a man in statue but also in caricature, a friend to all.He will be sadly missed by all , and never forgotten.
Rest in peace my very good friend. I'll see you after.

David W. Your mentioning the demise of your father brings back a surge of memories of my happy days at Goldings. Even now, heading into my early eighties, I can still see him (Pinhead) one of my most memorable mentors, cloaked in his scholar's gown, standing on the raised area (near the door we boys all used) on any Sunday just prior to us marching to church, led by the Band.
He was a wonderful man David. Thanks for reminding us.
Regards, Reg
