Hi Dave
do you remember a carpet cleaner made by a company called bissel, it was similar to a bumber you pushed it to and fro on your carpet to collect the dust and fluff.its possible they made them for polished floors.
just a thought.

At the Reunion an old boy gave me the name of the manufacturer of the bumper but I can't remember, what it was, or who told me. Can anyone help or remember?

Hi Dave, the Bumper, there were different sizes but the bottom was
made of a very tight close brush, if I remember? the one we had in Aberdeen 44-48 was about 18ins by 8ins, we used to put a piece of blanket underneath it, after we went down on our knees we used to say rubbers to the left, then right in line get to the bottom then turn round for about 4 or 5 times, then the Buffer finished it of. hope that may help things, might have been different when you was there best of luck

I am trying to recreate and construct the bumper we used at Goldings to show the new residents what we did as part of our "chores" but old father time has removed most of it from my memory.I have tried the internet to try and find a genuine one,and also Barnardo's along with the armed forces ex equipment sales,and I'm quite sure that other establishments must have used them along with "Ronuk" but so far no luck so if any of you can help me with the size and dimensions along with the "ball" and what material was on the bottom? so I can make one,unless one of you happened to take one with you when you left! Help!
