Here is a nice one for all ex Goldings boys and this should make us all be proud of ourselves.
I have for some time now, been doing Barnardo talks, including an Audio/Video presentation at various venues around the Midlands and have met some very nice and interesting people.
Last night (10.01.2011) I was invited to speak to the womens fellowship at South Wigston - Leicestershire. The Moment GOLDINGS was mentioned, a lady in the audience told me she lived in HERTFORD and trained at a college in the town from 1953-56 (can't remember the college name) I asked her what she knew about Goldings. Her reply was.. We knew of it but thought it was a POSH BOYS BOARDING SCHOOL!
We must have been very well behaved when in town and at the "Castle Cinema" which we spoke about.
This morning, I gave a Talk to a libary group in Nottingham. Sitting in the audience was another lady who was born and lived in Hertford for many years.
To end with, I had also invited Eileen Burwood to attend, Eileen runs the Barnardo Sherwood project in Nottingham. Although I already knew, Eileen was also Born in Hertford and her mother still lives there.
Small world, is it not?

Mrs Newton sends all former lads and Staff of Goldings her best wish's for the new year and apologize's for not being at the Reunion as she had a very severe cold,but is so glad you all had a good time visiting the old school.
