Dave, Mr Deboek had the key to wind up the clock, I had for quite awhile the job of going with him to do this chore, going up the stairs which had cobwebs and dead flies made me cringe, if i did not wind the handle at the correct speed a clump from his cammy hand soon slowed me down, lovely memories, would like to help in any way to restore the clock. i sometimes think if you can remember your masters like this you surely thought they were ok,
thank you Mr Deboek for all you taught me.

Dave
Today I have been approached by a resident who has recently moved into Goldings in the former print shop area, asking if the Old Boys and Barnardo's would be interested in a project to help restore the tower clock and mark it with a plaque of the participants who helped with the restoration.I think it's a project if it gets off the ground we should help with.A few years back when I was involved in the bench,John Cooper who was the caretaker of the Waterford Church approached on the same matter, as he restores antique clocks, so I will approach him with the view to take on the work, but I would welcome the Old Boys opinions on the matter, but I will follow it up.

This is a recent letter received from Mr Harry Clay, who was at Goldings
Dear Dave,
I am writing this letter to say I was at Goldings 1947-50 in the House of Aberdeen, school No 82 as a prefect followed by House Captain. Mr Bishop was Housemaster and I trained in the Woodwork Dept and was privileged to be a Wimbledon Ball Boy, unfortunately I will not be attending the re-union.
I am enclosing a cheque for £25-00 made out to the Goldings Old Boys Association.
If possible could you send me anything that would be of interest about my period at Goldings?
By coincidence the re-union falls on my 81st birthday, I do hope you all have a great time.
Yours Sincerely Harry Clay.
P.S. This is what make's running this site so enjoyable, and another Old Boy remembers him, John Sansom, so I'm hoping I can to get both of them in contact with each other
D.V.D. Photo's of the school and many other items are on the way to him shortly Dave.
