Just heard that Max Bygraves passed away aged 89 he lives just up the road from us has not been seen much he had alzheimers, he often called in to our printing works we printed some of his CD covers, he was also part of ENSA during the war in the same group as my father bobr

Another proud moment in my life happened this Morning. It was watching Richard Whitehead win a Paralympic Gold Medal on the track. I have know'n Richard since he was five years old when I made his first prosthetic limbs. You may already know that I was employed at the Nottingham City Hospital for 25 years as a Prosthetic Technician and the woodworking & leatherworking skills needed to do the job, were aquired at Goldings. I also competed at many disabled athletic and swimming events where Richard was also competing, many at Stoke Mandaville.

Dave, Not a problem and another opportunity to add to my collection of Civic Gold Chains!!
I have been given the honour of laying the wreath on Dr Barnardos memorial at the Annual service of Thanksging at Barkingside on Sunday September 16th. I will also be helping at the Barkingside openhouse event taking place at the village on Saturday & Sunday 22nd & 23rd September which is open to the General Public from 10am - 5pm each day and free of charge. It would be nice to see a few familier faces. I will be staying overnight in one of the village cottages which is always a pleasure, as it was 62 years ago.

I have now been in contact with the Mayors secretary who has confirmed the Mayor will be visiting us on the day Councillor Miss Jane Sartin.I have had to forward three names who she would like to be her guide to our re-union and to inform her about the schools backround,so I hope the following Old Boys don't mind John Sansom (40's)Alan Dearman (50's)and Brian Perrier (60's)Iv'e also reminded her to keep a firm hand on the Mayors chain of office!!
