With many thanks to the residents of the Goldings Mansion and the positive response to my letter that I posted last week regarding a visit for the old boys around the Mansion on the next re-union (2010)day.Quite a few have responded with agreement, but they are asking others that also live there for their permission so their privacy will not be invaded without prior agreement, and I will give more details on the re-union invitations.I am hoping that well before the re-union that I have more details of the arrangements so that we can deal with the kind invite and respect their rights to privacy as Mr Macdonald (Governor 1927-45)and Mr Wheatley (Headmaster 1945-66) would expect of us!so if anyone is not displaying the official Goldings re-union identity badge on the day will not be allowed to visit (these I do every year which are given out at the re-union venue)So if anyone of you do not receive your badge, please contact the re-union team,Peter Drummond,Ann,Ellen and Brian Perrier,Mal or me to print one.
Arrangements for transport, parking, and times agreed will be given on this site and also on the re-union invite.
Many thanks to Brian Perrier who asssisted me with posting the letters.

P.S. Just remember they now live there and parking in the courtyard is part of there property,so I will arrange alternative agreement with the residents that doesn't upset them, but I am sure that anyone who is disabled they will allow us to drop off in the courtyard.
They are looking forward to your stories and escapades that we encountered at "Goldings"

Hi Dave, I do remember Winifred Dudley,s name .I dont know if she ever worked in the sewing room that was in the archway as you go to the main entrance court yard . As I remember it caught fire while I was there , and one of the boy,s went to put a flame out that was creeping up the electric light cable and he died, he was electrocuted, but I have forgoten his name.

This week I have been in touch with Winifred Dudley who was a seamstress at Goldings from 1938-45,and would welcome via myself to talk to any of the old boys who were there in this period. She does remember Arthur Deamer,Joe Patch,Ron Stackwood,Mr Tempest, and other names from the period and would dearly like to exchange stories and incidents from this period with them...come on John you must surely remember her!

Well what can one say? Another great night at the Goldings cup final. St Michaels School went 2-0 up in the first 20 minutes before Verulam School pulled one back just a few mins before half time, only for St Michaels to score again to make it 3-1 at half time. Within a few mins of the restart, St Micaels put the game to bed (or so we thought) when they made it 4-1 but a great fight back from Verulam made it 4-3 with 5 mins to go and extra time looked possibe, but St Michaels held out to lift the trophy, which again Dave gave me the honour of presenting. I will leave Dave to put a full report of the evenings event on the site. In the mean time, I will sort out the photographs for Dave to also put on the site
