When we first went to Wimbledon with us & Joe Patch was in charge. Rev Corbett confirmed me in June 1948 19 April 2010 - C olnbrook Slough bob robertson | bobr@onthenet.com.au Yes Alan who could forget the Rev Corbett we called him the swearing parson he certainly ruled with an iron fist, although you could not help but like him may he "rest in peace" 19 April 2010 - Australia Alan Dearman 1955-59 and National Council Member | alandearman3@virginmedia.com On Saturday 17th March, I again had the pleasure of attending a performance of "The Likes Of Us",a musical writen by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice which tells the story of Dr Thomas Barnardo. I was involved in the collection for Barnardo's at the end of the show, which was staged by the Long Eaton Operatic Society and was staged at Trent College, Long Eaton Notts. Trent College may ring a bell with those who were at Goldings in the 1940s & 50s. as it was where the Rev Sidney Corbett went after leaving Golding's around 1957. Rev Corbett joined the staff at Goldings in 1947 and was there during my early days at Goldings. Although I had little to do with him, I seem to recall that he had something to do with the Wimbledon ball boy and was known as the iron fisted parson. I'm sure someone will recall memories of him.
