My final words to Goldings Old Boys.

Some six years ago I involved myself in the reunions. At that time, my comments and posts attracted a great deal of criticism and condemnation. I was subjected to a great deal of abuse, insults and hate male. Yet I persisted with my endeavours to clear the name of a fellow Goldings Lad, and to try and ensure the continuation of reunions. Those that attacked me, did so without the understanding of the situation. Just as they do now. I would ask where would the reunions be now, and would you have this web site, had I not put up with the abuse and insults that I did then.

More recently, I requested the details of the web site bank account, to enable me to make a financial donation. Again, without understanding my intentions, I was, basically, told that it is none of my business.

And now to the most recent episode of my feeble attempts to promote and enhance the web site and reunions.

Again, criticism and condemnation are in the minds of those that have not looked at the purpose behind my reasoning.

I have shown nothing but support for Dave and his endeavours, and this has been since before the reunions and this web site. Therefore, to receive such as I have from fellow Goldings Lads, fills me with dismay.

Whilst I shall not withdraw my support, I shall no longer attempt to promote nor enhance the reunions or web site.

A sad Goldings Lad, Woody.

I try to under stand what it's all about I do go on face book & have never read any thing about any problems on it, about our Reunion.
Dave & Mal & all that help to keep it going are doing a fine job as I have said before it gets better & better every year, its hard work organising a Reunion as I know because I organise the New Lodge Reunion. but it is very rewarding, to see all having a good time. As it says on the front Page the trouble with the Reunion, it only comes once a year all the best to our Reunion Organisers Dave & Mal & all the Team.

David Blower The Goldings Memorial Cup was donated by former pupils and staff of William Baker Technical School, a Dr Barnardo Home from 1922-67.
The mansion we lived in was called ““Goldings”” which was situated just outside Hertford in the village of Waterford.
The aim of the school was to teach a trade to the boys which would enable... them a good start in life, when it came for them to leave ““Goldings””
Throughout the schools life, sport played a major part of our lives, and many local sportsmen from those times must surely remember Goldings for our sporting achievements.
The Goldings Memorial Cup is played for each year, this years event is on the 27th April 7 pm kick off.
All are welcome to join myself and accompanied by other old boys for a very enjoyable evening of football

Above are just three of the notifications that were posted on Face Book. It was after the site going down that I hadthe thought of putting a page on Face Book to enable communication to all Goldings Old Boys that are registered there.

So why were they posted on Face Book, if not to enhance communication?

Why are any of us on Face Book?
Why are we connecting with Goldings Old Boys on Face Book?

Since I started looking through Face Book and the Old Boys on there, at least 13 have now made friends with other Goldings Lads. Hopefully, this will encourage communication between them, and, ultimately the Web Site and the Reunions.

Is that harmful? Is that detrimental to, either the Web Site, or the Reunion?

I think not.

However, if the feeling from Goldings Old Boys is that this attempt is detrimental to the enhancement of communication, then it is only one click away to deletion.

But, I thought, at the very least, Old Boys might just have looked in and seen the potential benefits that such a link may produce.
