I had a phone call yesterday off 50's Old Boy Billy Knight, He wants to say that he had a marvelous time at Buckingham Palace. It was great to meet up with the Old Boys he met. He has taken Photos and is sending them in to the website, when I receive them they will be displayed. Dave

Fine day at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party on the 12 May. Met some really OLD boys from Goldings, one nearing 100 years. Thanks to Barnardos, an interesting day, and seeing the Royals too.

The Old Sea Dog's birthday tommorow, looks well for 86! Many of his former ships can be found in "Davy Jones Locker" He applied to work on the Titanic but finished up on the "Graf Spree" He sailed the world and his claim to fame "I got away with never buying a round of drinks" To anyone who is familiar of his character this habit continued throughout his Goldings and beyond as we are all aware!! Happy Birthday "Uncle Albert"

A day in the life. life was very regimental and little attention was given to individual care. These routines continued until the second world war, as illustrated by old boy Fred Barnes, in his personal account 'discipline 1935-45. A typical day in the life of Corris House, Much Wenlock; 6.30 am. the gong to wake up, dormitory windows wide open, morning exercise for about 10 minutes then downstairs to washroom with your own numbered, clean your teeth with salt, after inspection back upstairs to dormitory to make your bed (army style). 8.30 am the gong for prayers, followed by singing the national anthem and then proceed to the dining room. Grace before all meals. If it was any boys birthday we all sang happy birthday to him plus a boiled egg for breakfast. 8.45 am, March to school.... and so it went on. I followed Fred in 1946 aged 8 years.R.I.P my good friend gone but never forgotten.
