John you will be most certainly missed, for your dry wit and wonderful memories you share with us about Goldings.
It appears the only problem we have encountered in your absence is that there has been in Hertford a dramatic fall in sales of beer on the eventful days around the reunion, and the local public houses are sending a petition into Downing St to demand that John Horn is picked up by a Cabinet Minister and driven to Hertford to restore beer sales, failing that encourage Billy Roe to call more often to Hertford. Take care John all our best wish's,perhaps next year?

Robert Davies email received today formerly (Unwin)
I attended Golding's between 1964 along with my brother Colin Davis and continued at the Waterford Hostel on the printing course until 1967.
Don't think I can make the reunion at such short notice though because I live in Rotherham.
Regards

Hi Dave,
Barnardo’s favourite Dickey Boy and Goldings ‘licker’ (Alan Dearman)along with his really nice wife Margaret are on their way home to Blighty. We believe they will tell you that they had a great time here in Canada.
They went on the ‘Maid of the Mist’ (boat) to the bottom of Niagara Falls and went on a wine tasting tour in the Niagara Peninsular amongst other things, and as well experienced having ‘David Wheatley’s Delicious Baked Salmon’ for dinner on one occasion.
Alan also was the guest speaker at a Barnardo function on ‘British Home Child Day’, an annual event which takes place on September 28th each year. He got us all laughing, speaking about cockroaches – and explaining Goldings' unique colloquial slang like ‘Richard the Third’- ‘Crusties’ and several other words. He did a very good job representing Barnardo’s and embarrassing the only other Dicky Boy in the room.
Ask him and Margaret about Tim Horton’s coffee shop. They wouldn’t let us pass one, so that they could get a Canadian Maple donut. The entire time we were with them was really just wonderful.
