Dave,
When I went to Wimbledon in 1957 & 58 the Rev. David Appleyard was responsible for the ball boys. it was his idea that those of us with a disability should be given the opportunity to go to Wimbledon,a memory that will live with me for ever. I would not describe myself as a 'licker' but I did sing in the Choir, read the lessons on occasions and Baby sat for him!!!

What a memory I have and I'm only 72 on Sunday 13th.

Katie, I have put your message on our guest book, some of the Old Boys should remember them. I met them both at our re-union one year and gave them a Goldings Banner. I will go through our school magazine as sometimes it list's the staff, many thanks and any stories you get I could put them on our site, Dave Blower Goldings 1962-65 and feel free to visit our re-union in October of this year.

No I didn't Alan, that was reserved for Nixon and Corbetts lickers!
"O yes Mr Corbetts, straight away sir"
"Lick your feet! left or right first sir!"
Yes Mr Nixon, include me in your confirmation class,I can't sing! but please put me in the choir also.
That,s the only thing they caught.....FAVOURITISM.

Hi.

I found your contact details on the goldings.org website.
I recently cleared out my Nan's flat in preparation for her move into a care home & some research into some things we found at her home led me to your site & some pictures of them at one of your reunion events.
Both my grandparents Josephine Fordham & Harold Fordham worked as staff at Goldings as I understand & I believe my nan actually started there before she was married under her maiden name Josephine Heaven. My nan turns 97 this year. Sadly we lost my grandad in 2010.
We are going to try and speak to her further about her time there as soon as she's more settled into her new home. She is really rather frail although her mind is excellent and she loves to tell us stories of her life.
In the mean time I am trying to do some of my own research of their time at Goldings.
Would be great if you know where I might be best to look for further information or know anyone who could tell me more.
Many thanks

Katie Fordham

Dave,
Disagree with Tony Angell over Wimbledon photo. The fourth boy on the right hand side I think is John Lau not Bobby Mac. Pop
