Hello David, The Homes and Gardens open day is being held at : Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies Register Block, County Hall Pegs lane Hertford Hertfordshire
Sunday 20th May 2007 10.00am until 4.00pm
I would like to make you aware that the display in which Goldings is being used is for young children and their families. If you are to come along it may be wise to come along in the morning, hopefully before we get swamped with children doing their activties. I look forward to meeting you and hearing about this interesting phase of Goldings.

John thanks for that information regarding short trousers,in the summer when I was there we wore khaki shirts and shorts.Bill Roe rang me and said when he was there, early fifties, that you had to wear short trousers and your school coat if you were on "Jankers" so the staff could recognise who was on "Jankers" Can anybody else shed more light?? I hope you and your better half are well and in fine health..all the best to you both...Dave.

Dave. As I remember the reason for wearing short trousers from about May to September was according to the powers that was,it was because it was to get a bit of fresh air to your body, and during the Summer months we were allowed to leave our shirts off when it was a certain temperature. Prefects wore dark blue sport shorts to match the blue shirts they wore??the lickers. john horn aberdeen house 42-45
