This letter was e-mailed to Andy Braithwaite. Chairman of the Hertfordshire Football Association. I will let you know how we get on when he replies.

Good morning Andy.
You may or may not be aware that once I belonged to a school in Waterford / Hertford, called The William Baker Technical School "Goldings", it was a former Dr. Barnardos Home, which closed in 1967.
Being former pupils of the school we would like to donate a football trophy to be presented annually to a local school to recognise some form of achievement in the field of football.
Within the short time that our school was occupied 1922-1967 its sporting activities you will find were renowned and for that reason we would like to donate this trophy so that to-days children could perhaps re-call former pupils in the county and past achievements they once gained in the field of sport. If you can suggest a way forward in this idea, and it is successful, perhaps the trophy could be presented by one of our old boys, as many settled in and around Hertford.Thanking you in anticipation Goldings Old Boys.

during my time at golding's 42 to 45 i would often use the library on a friday and saturday evening during the winter the inner room contained a number of desk were one could sit and read or listen to music played on the radiogram.
as you go under the arch the libary was on the left and on the right was the games room, the room divider was closed across so people in the library section would not be disturbed.
above those rooms was a passage way that lead to the governors quarters we would come through there from aberdeen house to the libary when a air raid was on.
