I booked into the salisbury arms last night they still have rooms left £44 50p single room per night over the weekend I'm coming down on the Thursday £70 weekdays single.
Doubles are more expensive.Ian Horrel who has now changed his surname name to Keates came into Goldings in the Summer of 1965,the year I left.He was placed in Aberdeen and didn't stay long (about 12 months)and was told not to come back when he went on leave which was about 1966,so was it on the cards then that Goldings was closing?
Ian has kindly sent a donation to Goldings Old Boys fund, thank you Ian.Do you remember him Bobby Mac as you were still ther in 1966?
I have now sent him the D.V.D on Goldings and the Opening of Goldings in 1922 along with the copy C.D of the band practising on the parade ground..as he was in the band and some of the tunes brought back happy memories for him.A little about him is on the profile page as he is now a dog handler.

A very interesting article Dave on the Carpenters shop written by Mr May, that name always reminds of boxing and his first round knockout two years running, he always came out of his corner running straight on to the other chaps straight left, end of contest!!! this was the result each time but at least he had courage to take part and he was a good "chippy".

I told you about the Bush Fires down south of us well they are still going on Mt Hofham homes are again under threat, we have already lost over 150 home and several lives.
In Queensland we have had Floods also just below us in NSW hundreds of homes flooded and many destroyed,6 lives lost, now comes the big clean up, the MUD ARMY 1000s of volunteers help with the clean up and millions of dollars will be fundraised for victims.
We got the rain and wind but very little damage it all went round us

Had an e-mail last evening from Terry Whitehead to say that he had tried to book into the Salisbury Arms for the reunion but the hotels web site is saying fully booked.
Terry Telephoned the hotel on my advice and was told they are not sure why their web site is giving that information. He has now booked and the hotel has confirmed that there are only three bookings now, all Goldings old boys.
My advise is to ring the hotel rather than rely on the web site.
