Many thanks Jon for your very interesting suggestions.Mr Stackwood is no longer I'm afraid with us but there must be many of his former pupils out there and have read your smashing ideas.I will follow it up and go to my local printer who I have used for many years to sound out cost. The idea to sponsor a page or we could do a "Goldings Calendar" like the Calendar Girls? joking!I think? that would be a fine "Finus Coronat Opus" to our demise! Lets all follow this idea out there and see what we can acheive. Many thanks Jon for your interest.

Thanks for your comments on the Guest Book about a Goldings Calendar. Obviously finance is a very important issue, as it would be intended to be a fund-raiser not a fund loser! Firstly if anyone is still in contact with Mr Stockwood he may know of an old-boy of the Hertford School of Printing which continued after Goldings closed who may hold a senior position in a suitable printing firm who may be willing to produce at cost. Secondly sponsorship of a month could be considered either by firms, individuals or organisations - it would be good if the Lawn Tennis Association could sponsor the June page, a Hertfordshire sports shop sponsor the month in which the Goldings Football Cup Final is played and Waterford Parish Council the November page. Perhaps the hotel where you stay at the re-unions would be willing to sponsor October. A personalised letter to each of the current residents at Goldings might produce a sponsor or two, and could include an order form. In addition to the market amongst the old boys, a small number of copies could be available in Hertford Museum, Library and local bookstores - Mrs Abel-Smith could help there, as her books are on sale. If the March page featured the two football teams playing in the Goldings Cup Final there would be an additional 24+ purchasers. In addition to the photos, it would be interesting if there was a personal recollection for each month. Mr Shepherd's daughter or Mrs Newton could write about the pantomimes if December featured these and I'm sure many of the regulars on the Guest Book would be willing. Perhaps Michael Aspel could be persuaded to recall his Goldings Cricket Match, in which case a limited number of autographed copies could be available. At this stage, like you say, it's best to see what the response is through the Guest Book, but if the idea is a goer, then I could give some help in writing to potential sponsors. Best Wishes to you and your family for the New Year - keep up the good work. Jon Parsons

In answer to your idea about a calendar Jon,I had a limited number published five years ago and they were handed out at the reunion on a "fist come first served basis" as I paid for them myself cost about £400!and the dates ran from October to October (reunion months)I havn't got one spare otherwise I would send one to you,but I first had to seek agreement with Barnardo's due to copyright, but I'm quite sure if the interest is there we could repeat your suggestions which is a very good idea.I also had wall clocks done with Goldings in the backround, but after placing the order they tried to triple the price so only ten were done,so it's over to everyone out there with Jon's idea...because don't forget it's not my money ..but our money,so if it's viable with enough orders and deposits I will get on with it? To Alan Dearman or anyone else I wasn't sent this time a Guild Messenger,as I would like to put on the site the write up about this years reunion. The latest about Brian Perrier is complications have set in and he will have to have a further op to correct it along with he also has Pneumonia. Our thoughts are with you Brian and Ellen.
