The National Council chose Eric McKay as this year’s recipient to recieve The Barnardo Award. He was nominated by his Granddaughter, and I have scanned her letter in above so you can read what she has to say about him.
I have also attached my response and the letter I have today sent to Eric.
You’ll be pleased to know he is a Goldings boy and reminisces a great deal about his time there. (1941 – 1943)
Alan and Mo Harris from National Council have offered to present the award with someone from Barnardo’s (to be confirmed) in the New Year. I just wondered whether you wanted to be there as well. We don’t have any dates yet and you will see from my letters that Eric lives in Bath.
I’m happy for you to report the news on the Goldings website, but will have to ask Katherine (Eric’s Granddaughter) whether she is happy for her letter to be shared. Not sure if this is something you would normally do, but I will come back to you on this.
