My brothers at Goldings and other ex Goldings boys
Arthur Cann .....was a prefect and house captain of Aberdeen.
He was in the cadet band and Gymn team.
He was a carpenter and left to go to our home town Torquay.
He was a brilliant craftsman and did some time overseas for his company.
Arthur Cann, sadly, passed away many years ago.
I am in regular touch with his family
Stanley Cann is still going strong and lives with his family in Bognor Regis.
I am going well with my wife in NZ. I play golf twice a week with a group of 35 other men and we have many social events when the wives attend.
I am also a member of the local International Mens Shed.
The rest of our time is taken up with our family. 2 wonderful daughters and 6 amazing grandchildren 😄 😀
I am in touch with my dear life long friend and ex Goldings old boy Colin Tregellis who lives in Basingstoke.
Also I am in touch with Ike Alveston who regularly attends the reunion.
I will contact the people that you mentioned in your last email over the next few weeks.
Keep smiling
Regards and thanks for all that you do.
Tony Cann

I will however email Pop in a few weeks with more details of life in NZ.

Les Jones (Goldings)
Greetings from Toronto:

Enjoyed reading the website which stirred distant memories. Wondering if you have any information on my grand-father who was a master at WBTS for 27 years. Retired 1948:
Herbert Jones, ex Royal Marine Light Infantry, Born January 1881 or 82. Died 1950s. Wife Emily.

Son, Herbert (Bert) - worked closely in local football with a J. Maslin - likely the Goldings man mentioned on your site. Lived at The Ramblers, Waterford.
He married May Lavery - from Liverpool, worked in Land Army at Goldings in WW2 - in Waterford Dec 1944. She shared accommodation at Terrace Cottages, Waterford with Dad’s ex-fiancee!!!

That’s all I know. Except, asa a young kid, I thought Grandad was really grumpy. It’s embarrassing to admit that when I found my dad crying after his father died, all I said was "Don’t cry Dad, it was only grandpa!”

Look forward to hearing from you,
Regards. Les Jones
