Well our lads would have been up bright and early this morning for the start of the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament.
A memory from a old Boy. The first year it happened, 1946, they sent a double-decker London bus for us with Ball-boys Express on the front. It had an open upper deck. We rode straight through the centre of London and round Piccadilly Circus. We wore our best clothes, long grey flannels, white shirt and blazer with school motto on the pocket “Finis Coronat Opus” - "The End Crowns The Work". an old boy

The screen shots Christoph sent me will be added to the site in a couple of days. Its great to know that the site may seem quiet but there are people not always connected to Goldings find it useful, and maybe our history is interesting, and useful. The website is world wide and some people who contact me like Christoph are not from the U. K. I also hear a lot from students studying social history or Barnardos.

Hi Christoph Yes I can confirm the shots you sent me are our former Assembly room at Goldings, both scenes are as you walked into the Assembly Room, The photograph I have attached is the door from The Library to the Assembly Rooms as it was in the early years of Goldings later to be changed when I was there. I was in The Assembly Room about 10 years ago and it was all still the same then. I have a DVD of Goldings from the time I was there that I will watch and see if I can find a better comparison for you. When I was at Goldings in 1962-65, The film He who rides a tiger was filmed on location at Goldings, staring Tom Bell and Judy Dench, and they changed a lot of the rooms with film sets, that were all taken away later, and everything was put back to normal, as boys we had a lot of fun watching it be filmed. Of course when Band of brothers was made when Goldings was an empty building our school was closed. Also Catweasel and Randell and Hopkirk the Revival, 2 TV series were also filmed there also after our school The William Baker Technical School Goldings, had closed. A short write up on our website, click (Sports and Leisure and then On Location). If I can help anymore please contact me again all my contact details are on the website. 01922-615789 Keep in touch Dave Goldings 62-65

Dear sir, I just found your Website about Goldings. Since the tv series band oft Brothers was partly filmed in Goldings (main entrance and some interior shots were used as Berchtesgadener Hof, Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5L9lLa2TpLo, Starts at 0:45 sec) and I was able to verify this. But now there are still 2 scenes that I cannot clearly identify whether they were also filmed in Goldings. I would like your opinion on whether they were shot there or not. I am sending you the screenshots from the series as an attachment. Thank you very much! Christoph
