can anyone remember when they came to Golding's and made a film about the training of ball boys. after the shooting was over they left us this heap of tennis racquets to fight over, i managed to get one and of i went to try it out. on the way i stopped of at the orchard by Nixon's house and started knocking of the apples that were out of reach. unfortunately some one saw me doing it and when i arrived back at the house Joanna was waiting for me, he confiscated the racquet and gave it to the biggest boy in the school knowing full well that i would not ask for it back in fear of getting a smack in the gob. did anyone see that Russian player on telly yesterday he was 6-10" tall i recon that might be that boys son who had my racquet---Chapman

Sun Holiday £9-50 to The Cala Gran Caravan Park Clevelys Blackpool. I've given up on the exotic!!!
But I will get a long weekend in October at Goldings makes up for everything almost.

You may or not be aware that my former school William Baker Technical School, Goldings, Hertford, were once the ball boys at your forth coming Tournement from 1946-66,and we hold a re-union annually in the town of Hertford were we once lived for a short while to recollect our former past.The school was part of Dr Barnardo's organisation and were very privledged and proud to be associated with Wimbledon.We wonder after all those years perhaps you could return a little bit of kindness to us and help us out with any with any memorbilia,i.e. pictures,incidents,or programmes or anything that may help to display or keep for our on going re-unions.Also I'm quite sure many of our former ball boys could give you stories which you may want to add to your Museum that re-called there time spent at Wimbledon.And last but not least is there any way we could inform the tennis fraternity of past and present that we are honoured to once be associated with Wimbledon in the form of a plaque, or bench,or any other suggestion you could offer.Thank you very much for taking the time to read this message.Along with many former boys and staff, a very proud member of our former school "Goldings" Please visit our Goldings web-site address
