Well that's now got some people thinking! Reunions cost money! and I don't want the caring few, which include Woody to make large donations were a small donation by all, would solve the problem.
As most of us are aware Woody was instrumental in protecting the reunion in the time we had a crisis, and was the spur for me to become involved for which we all should be eternally grateful, but for a man who is usually so eloquent with his words this time his intentions were not very well written. As most of us know Woody over the last few years has not suffered the best of health as was apparent at the reunion with his oxygen tank alongside him, but saying that he made it. Please remember that Woody is in constant contact with me with thoughts and ideas which would help the reunion but I must admit I took the opportunity of his message to hammer the fact of our current situation as regards funding the reunions so I must now apologise to him for doing it, but it has got some people thinking! but unfortunately I can't reach all who was at the reunion but come October 2010 all will be solved of that I am sure. Sometimes a little bit of controversy stimulates people's thoughts!
Take care Woody,
Dave and family.

Many thanks Len for jumping to the defence of the Reunion and our Team

Len, I would gladly give you an answer to your question, with reference as to why I asked for Bank Account details.

Simply to put in some cash.

Maybe you misread my earlier post, maybe you misunderstood my intentions.

But at no time have I given reason for anyone to doubt my good intentions towards Goldings and the Reunion.

Hoping this will clear up any misunderstanding.

Why does a certain person want to see the Accounts for the Reunion funding what has he done in the past & what does he expect to do in the Future? I know from Experance it takes a hell of a lot of time & effort to run such an event Dave you &your's & helpers do a fantastic job . All the Accounts are on the web site for all to View if any one thinks I am speeking out of turn then I'M SORRY. I remain a friend & brother to all my Ex Goldings boys. Len.

When we was at Goldings in the majority of case's we were taught a trade, schooled, competed in indoor and outdoor activities. When we came to leave we were clapped in assembly, given a set of tools free, relevant to our trade, and a suitcase with all the basic essentials required for the outside world, and I don't know about anyone else but my progress was closely followed long after I had left by Mr Wheatley (unknown to me until I collected my records)The years!1960's

Forward to November 2009,latest rules introduced by the Government and I quote "Ed Balls the Childrens Secretary has been drawn to the attention that children leaving care are Leaving Care Home's with just a bin bag!As part of a string of reforms all the children will be given help to find a job!with offers of apprenticeships and career advice. They are designed to give a better chance to 6000 teenagers leaving care.
Were is the modern day Mr Wheatley and a group of loyal and caring staff as we once had.
Who was it who said "We are shutting Goldings as it is past it's sell date!" Well New Labour! and politicians of any party get in touch because we may help you understand!

Woody if you click onto the front page, bottom left hand side indicated "Accounts" every set of accounts are displayed including this years since I have been doing the reunions but if you require more info I can display the total paperwork that is relevant to the accounts.Incidently the total books and paperwork are available at every reunion I have been doing for further inspection by anyone.
You can see in these account that the major outlay is taken up by Van Rental,Hire of the Hall, and Evening Meals.
The evening meals cost this year were recouped by the sale of tickets for the meal.As the memorabillia gets larger it goes that we need a large van to get them to the reunion, but nothing is collected for this cost as the meal tickets are pitched just to cover the meals.
The cost of the hall has always in my time been well covered by Ellen as she doesn't allow anyone to "slip through the net" with raffle tickets (well done Ellen once again)As we are all aware this year has been very trying for all of us due to the "credit crunch" so other than a donation from an old boy who insists remains nameless, donations were not so good which is understandable.I have approached the Goverment for help, but they have told me to get in line behind "The Bankers" I think thats what they called them! The "Goldings" beer this year the brewery increased the nett cost by approx 80% so this didn't move so well even though I sold it at below cost! so we still have 14 bottles for next year. The accounts are there for all to inspect as its not my money but "Goldings Old Boys" and I welcome pratical suggestions that may aleviate our present position, but surely we shouldn't be looking at "Cheap Reunion" but it should be able to stand on it's two feet and that being so it's probaly the best reunion by ex Barnardo's Staff and Boys within the Barnardo Organisation and thats the way I feel it should be because we were always "The Elite" of the family and always will be!
Rest assured I will continue to run the reunion unless asked not to,and by next October this small problem will be gone, because I know between us it will be resolved thats what made us what we are
