Chairman of the Kidsgrove Fat Mans Club
|
Dear Sir, I couldn’t help notice your recent advert on this site for the post available in Cannock. You may well not know this but I represent this exclusive club in Kidsgrove for obese digger drivers, scrap metal. merchants, and merchants of ill-gotten gains. We have been actively trying to recruit members to our "exclusive" club, but to date we can only find one, who has talents in all of activities listed above, and he has now been made an honorary member due to his outstanding support. Our aims in the club to provide these souls with information to slim, to enable him to make a quicker exit from the scene...things like cuppa soup for slimmers, nimble bread, poof pastry, and baked beans.. but that one back fired on him, strong girdles, but I fear we are losing the battle of the bulge with this one, as it was noticed he was being lifted into his digger by the site crane, and luckily he has a sun roof in his digger which enabled them to squeeze him in? Due to his age they had to give him a bucket, as the crane driver didn’t have time to keep lifting him out for the toilet. So as you read of this one time gardener from "Goldings" who now deludes to being a horse (the italian stallion) just remember to wish him well on his quest to slim back down to 18 stone for charity "Fatty we wish you luck..Ha ha no chance.

CAN YOU REMEMBER WHERE YOU WERE and what you were doing on February 6th 1957? Many of us I'm sure can. I was at Golding and just 14 years old. with no papers, Radio or TV & with the school being so sports orientated, can you iagine how we felt when rumours stated circulating that Manchester United players had been killed in a plane crash. We all now know about the Munich air disaster which marks it's 50th anniversary this week. It was cinema night but all the talk was about Munich. Even at 14 I was a keen football fan and had seen the likes of Roger Byrne, Duncan Edwards, & Tommy Taylor, who were among those killed, play for the "Busby Babes" Those of us who follow footbal will no doubt recall other football disasters in our life times and these include: "The colorfull 11" killed in a plane crash in 1989 - 18 members of the Zambia National team killed in a plane crash in 1993. Also: Ibrox Park in 1971 - Heysal 1985 and of Course, Hillsborough in 1989 which I witnessed first hand. Maybe as we remember Munich this week, we should remember all losses from what we call "The beutiful Game.
