26 February 2008 - here and now!?

Dave
This write up is to go in the programme for the Goldings Cup final Thursday March 6th Letchworth 7-30pm Kick off
The Goldings Memorial Cup was donated by former pupils and staff of William Baker Technical School, a Dr Barnardo Home from 1922-67.
The mansion we lived in was called “Goldings” which was situated just outside Hertford in the village of Waterford.
The aim of the school was to teach a trade to the boys which would enable them a good start in life, when it came for them to leave “Goldings”
Throughout the schools life, sport played a major part of our lives, and many local sportsmen from those times must surely remember Goldings for our sporting achievements.
I myself was a member of the Goldings football team that came second to Cheshunt, losing by one point in 1964 in the Lea Valley League.
So if you have time please visit our website and savour the achievements of Goldings in many fields of sport.

Our school motto was “Finis Coronat Opus” The End Crowns The Work. Today we do hope both teams reflect on this motto and enjoy their success in reaching this Final. GOOD LUCK. Goldings.

Sheriff of Nottingham | alan.dearman@ntlworld.com
Hi Mal, not realy having a go. BBC Radio nottingham covered a storey on Tuesday Morning about Rochdale FC who had placed oil drums all over their pitch to thaw it out in time for their game against Notts County that same evening and there was a photo of the burning oil drums on their web site. The effort failed and the game was called off later that day. It was reported the The Idea had come from Walsall Football Club. True or False ?

The Bathtub Test

During a visit to the mental asylum, dave blower asked the Director how do you determine whether or not a patient should be institutionalised.

'Well,' said the Director, 'we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub.'

'Oh, I understand,' said david a normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup.'

'No.' said the Director, 'A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?'
