This is an E-Mail received today from Hertfordshire F.A.
Dear Mrs Baily, Whilst we were not very happy with the three big lads from Goldings eating the officials sandwiches and pork pies, could you please ask them to return our silver tray and four crystal wine glasses. Looking at the characters on the night it was pretty obvious that the little one from the Black Country was innocent looking at his "sweet" face! but I'm afraid the other three looked very shifty indeed to all of us. Assuring you of our best intentions, Ivor Biggun.

For anyone planning a visit to Letchworth in the near future, I would like to warn you that there ain't any pubs. With Dave Barlow at my side, we drove around for almost an hour looking for a watering hole where we could obtain a bite to eat following our drive from Nottingham. Eventually, we drove to the town centre and found one of only Three in the town. We got a pint but no grub so we finished at a chippy a few yards down the road where we enjoyed the best fish & chips either of us had tasted for a long time. It was then off to the County ground for the Goldings memorial cup final and what a great evening we had. The hospitaltity we recieved from the Herts FA and the English schools FA officials was excellent and we were all made to feel very welcome but I'm sure Dave will be adding the full story later. My evening then became difficult. As the official Photographer, I found it difficult to get any shots of the Match because some idiot stood on a beer crate in front of me, blocking the view. Not satisfied with that, he then ate most of the half time refeshments, including the Pork pies why dave and I had another pint in he Bar. We may have donated the trophy, but can't help wondering if we will be invited to next years final !!!

As a world famous photographer, renowned for my stunning pictures of historical events, royalty, and famous celebrities throughout the world, I was placed under duress to help out at recording the the football final to determine the important outcome of the first winners of the "Goldings Old Boys and Staff Memorial Cup" Unknown to me was, I wasn't aware that 14 year old boys tend to be 6 feet tall, coupled with the surrounding wall was 4ft 6in. After repeated requests to David Barlow, and Alan Dearman for a "bunk up" to take image's of the event with my recently purchased "Cannon take on the move" camera subsidised by my saved up "Green Shield" stamps, they declined to help me, not only that "scoffed" all the sandwich's and pork pies at half-time along with the "Git" from Stevenage. As you are probably aware there is some very unsavoury characters in Letchworth so armed with that knowledge was loathed to ask around. On the night I did the best I could standing on a beer crate (The only remains of those drunks from Nottingham)I will make amends at the next function, Fulham winning the cup!or perhaps David Barlows "How to be a succesful goalkeeper without gloves?" O I forgot Hertswood School won the cup!4 nil.
